Serotonin Levels and Eating Disorders
This week is Eating Disorder Awareness week. Low Serotonin levels have been linked to Eating Disorders. This natural mood stabilizer can be affected by physical and emotional stress and poor diet and eating habits. Low levels can trigger binge-eating. Eating sufficient protein and carbohydrates will allow the body to manufacture the amino acid required to promote serotonin inside the brain.
Therefore eating a healthy balanced diet can help our brain chemistry and help to avoid eating disorders.
