Did anyone see that Facebook murder case this week where two Dutch teenagers killed a 15-year old girl after an online feud? God knows what I’d do if that was my child? Shouldn’t we all be watching what’s going on on our kids’ accounts? If they won’t let us be their friends, shouldn’t facebook offer parents some way of monitoring what’s going on? Like a status report when they pick up certain words or expressions?
I have real issues with this Facebook ‘friend’ business. I would be happy if teenagers had to befriend their parents (as they should be over 13 when they join Facebook, but most of them lie about their age). There is no control over this as it is in their hands. I know I am a nosey Mother, but there are times when you need to know where your kids are and they can lie to you. At least you have some way of protecting them if you know what they are really up to! This story is awful. 🙁
