Is too much bad press bad for our kids?

Is anyone else worried about the way teenagers are portrayed in the media? In London this is translating into violence against teenagers. Two incidents reported in the last 10 days where a 13 year old and a 14 year old were punched by adults for small misdemeanours (spilling some ketchup and treading on a foot) and probably others we haven’t heard about.
